Today started with a trip to the Global Knowledge and Developement Center which was originally created in 1972 under the name Korean Development Industry.
It’s aim is to show the history of how Korea became the powerhouse that it is today and the difficulties they faced whilst examining the leadership that built there country.

Afterwards we went to the Dondaemun Design Plaza (DDP) which was this massive curved structure that utilized a cantelever system akin to bridge construction to support its unusually shape. It’s constructed with over 40,000 aluminum panels that are all made in Korea since the original supplier couldn’t meet demands. It was created by Zaha Hadid and completed in 2014. The structure utilizes plants on its roof to help deal with rainwater accumulation and solar panels to help with costs. I found the use of holes in the panels the most fascinating as they have placed windows behind those panels to allow light to flow into the building without compromising the overall design concept.
